Blogging for Me!

Well it is almost over for now. I have truly enjoyed EDM310 Microcomputing. I have worked on some things I never had the opportunity to trial and I have practiced some familiar skills.
What I learned in class:
Blogging
Creating a Website
How to create tabs in word using the tab well.
How to copy in word using the Click Shift technique.
Practiced charts in Excel.
Learned how to use Concatenate in Excel.
I was looking forward to learning about Access/ Database programs. I do not work with those in my daily job, but maybe in a later class.
Great Class!!!!

The article is in spanish but it talks about two students, Claudia and Alejandra blogging with their teachers permission and assistance, Sra. Villalba. You can publish a comment or go to other students blogs Otros

International Site

site
This is interesting, while looking on line for international school sites I found a news release about ePals classroom exchange. This site links classrooms around the world. The exchange has established a site: ePALS StudentBlog(tm), a safe and protected blogging tool designed for teachers, students and parents to search, publish, and share classroom projects across cultures and continents in an age-appropriate environment. The website for epals is attached. This is great information for future teachers. Click on site to read the news release. The click on epals to go directly to the site mentioned in the news article.

Blogging in Classrooms

Here is a site that offers references and resources for blogging in classrooms. I could not resist - in the examples is a site called "Mrs Young's Summer Book Club". What a great idea. Many schools are now assigning summer reading to students, but who wants to read over the summer? Too much going on. But a blog would be a good way to keep in touch with students. Students could contact other students and view good reads over the summer. Click on Summer Reading to view Mrs Young's site. Summer Reading

Blogging Commentary Website

I was looking for a website for blogging in private schools and found this Commentary site. Many comments, mostly very opinionated, but the audio interview links were interesting. Check it out - click on"website".

Blogging in EDM310

I have truly enjoyed learning how to blog. This class was the reason my husband and I signed up for the internet. It has been a good experience, although I am still apprehensive about privacy and security issues.

I believe blogging can be a benefit in the classroom. From a working parents' perspective this can keep me in touch with my child's classroom, her teacher, and special events or assignments at school. There are many occassions where I do not get to meet with teachers or other parents. A class blog can help parents keep in touch with the teacher and each other at their own convenience.

The negative aspect could be a lack of security about the child's work performance. In addition, people tend to share information on email or the internet that should be kept private. There should be a code of ethics and appropriate commentary established when blogs are created for classrooms that would remind teachers and parents that some subject matter should not be shared on the blog.
